Power Rangers History

Power Rangers is a name of a meta-franchise series, that chronicling the adventures of superhero team called Power Rangers. The concept of Power Rangers is based on the Super Sentai series of shows, with the first ever Super Sentai to be adapted into Power Rangers was Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (1992), utilizing footage from all 50 episodes.

The basic premise of Power Rangers is that a group of five (in some cases more or fewer) people gain special powers (magical or technological), wear rainbow colored outfits, and use advanced weapons and martial arts skills to battle powerful villains from another planets or dimensions threatening to take over the Earth. Usually after the team has beaten an army of evil creatures (grunts) and the monster of the week, they call for huge robotic vehicles/animals (Zords) that can combine to form one giant robot (Megazord) to fight an enlarged version of the monster.

The following is a list of the 39 Super Sentai series and their years of broadcast, that later adapted into Power Rangers series. Each of them has its own unique values and motifs:

Was the first Super Sentai series and developed by Shotaro Ishinomori, creator of Kamen Rider.

4. Denshi Sentai Denziman (1980)


5. Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan (1981)


6. Dai Sentai Goggle V (1982)


7. Kagaku Sentai Dynaman (1983)

9. Dengeki Sentai Changeman (1985)


10. Choushinsei Flashman (1986)


11. Hikari Sentai Maskman (1987)


12. Choujuu Sentai Liveman (1988)

Was later adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, beginning the Power Rangers franchise.

Adapted into the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.


18. Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (1994)

Adapted into the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, as well as its mini-series Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers


19. Chouriki Sentai Ohranger (1995)

Adapted into Power Rangers Zeo.


20. Gekisou Sentai Carranger (1996)

Adapted into Power Rangers Turbo.


21. Denji Sentai Megaranger (1997)

Adapted into Power Rangers in Space

Adapted into Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.


31. Juken Sentai Gekiranger (2007)


Adapted into Power Rangers Jungle Fury.


32. Engine Sentai Go-Onger (2008)


Adapted into Power Rangers RPM.


33. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (2009)

Adapted into Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Super Samurai.



34. Tensou Sentai Goseiger (2010)


Adapted into Power Rangers Megaforce.


35. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (2011)


Some elements of Gokaiger were adapted as Power Rangers Super Megaforce.


36. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (2012)


Some elements of Go-Busters will be incorporated into Power Rangers Dino Charge.



37. Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013)


Adapted into Power Rangers Dino Charge in 2015.


38. Ressha Sentai ToQger (2014)



39. Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (2015)



The Super Sentai following Ninninger will be the 40th Anniversary Super Sentai, and within this anniversary the 2000th Episode of the overall Super Sentai Series will air. Ok thats all for todays History of Power Rangers. See ya on next update :)
