A new Louis Vuitton ad campaign uses Final Fantasy character Lightning as a model. Nicolas Ghesquiere, the artistic director of women's collections for the French fashion company, shared a video of the Series 4 promotional campaign on Instagram. You can take a look at it below.
In the ads, Claire Farron a.k.a. Lightning is shown wearing fashion from Series 4, which also being worn by real-life models. Square Enix said in a press release that the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Final Fantasy embodies shared values to preserve tradition while seeking out new and revolutionary ideas.
"Reality and Fantasy become one. Lightning a genuine heroine in the new @louisvuitton series 4 ad campaign," "Lightning is the perfect avatar for a global, heroic woman," Nicolas Ghesquiere said.
This video comes from Square Enix's Visual Works CG division under the direction of Tetsuya Nomura. As DualShockers notes, these outfits were shown off in real life earlier this year at the Louis Vuitton Women's Spring-Summer Fashion Show. Final Fantasy designer Tetsuya Nomura said that Lightning's "stunning new look" was produced entirely by Louis Vuitton.
"This collaboration is not just a promotion of a game, and it is a great honor that the character herself received an offer from a world famous brand," added Nomura. "This has infused new breath into the character, Lightning."
Lightning will be featured in various magazine advertisements starting this month, in addition to promotional videos for the fashion campaign. This is not the first time Final Fantasy characters have been used to model real-world clothing. Back in 2012, characters from the RPG series were used to promote Prada clothing.
